Our Heal’s Discovers programme champions up-and-coming names. Each year our buyers select promising new people to collaborate on exclusive designs, giving young designers a springboard for success. Since its inception we have supported Green Grads, founded by interiors journalist Barbara Chandler MBE, on its mission to champion recent graduates of UK universities with ideas and solutions to heal the planet.
Internally, we foster a culture of inclusivity and positivity, making Heal’s a fun and welcoming place to work. Even when our designs are created to endure, sometimes furniture and homeware still becomes unwanted.
We’ve partnered with the British Heart Foundation to find new homes for these pieces and have raised over £430k in the process.
Looking at other areas of the business, we’ve also shifted to renewable energy, including in our stores and warehouse, while switching to energy-efficient LED lighting. We continuously evaluate packaging across our business, such as the wrapping for our furniture, which we remove after delivery and recycle what we can, to keep waste to an absolute minimum.
Our commitment to sustainable craftsmanship begins long before a piece becomes available. We work with the best partners to produce each product and where possible work with UK and European manufacturers to minimise our carbon footprint. We work with only trusted producers with our same approach.
We’ve partnered with Sedex since 2022, the world’s leading responsible-sourcing organisation, to assess and improve the environmental and ethical performance of our supply chain. With the support of this partnership, we have confidence in our supply chain, as Sedex ensures factories and producing partners undergo rigorous checks (such as SMETA audits) for fair wages, safe labor, and environmental compliance.
We are also a proud partner of GoodWeave, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting workers’ rights and improving working conditions, providing us with the best assurance our rugs are made without child, forced or bonded labour.
Most importantly, we always try to support heritage skills honed by the passions and talents of artisans over the years. That’s why we tend to work with family-owned and independent businesses rather than multinationals.
Furnishing Futures is a charity creating healing homes that bring hope and dignity to women and children who have escaped domestic abuse and been placed in empty social housing. Together, we aim to use design to transform people’s lives and really make a difference. We are a proud supporter of this charity, and plan to build on this as an ongoing partnership in the future.
80% of shop workers and 90% of store managers working in retail have experienced customer abuse. A YouGov public poll for the Retail Trust, saw 68% of people admitting to having got annoyed with a shopworker, delivery driver or somebody working in customer services. Of these, nearly a quarter said they raised their voice or lost their temper. As a result, more than a third of retail workers are considering quitting their job.
This is why Heal’s is supporting the Retail Trust and the British Retail Consortium to call for urgent, meaningful change that protects and supports the wellbeing of our colleagues.

At Tom Raffield, a responsible and sustainable approach has been a focus since the brand’s inception. From their workshops in Cornwall, Tom and his team craft functional pieces that utilise tried-and-tested traditional methods and always use solid timber.
The Organic Sleep is our most natural mattress to date. It is handmade in Lancashire at a factory that has been awarded the Manufacturing Guild Mark presented to Britain's top 50 furniture and furnishing manufacturers. Particular attention is paid to the mattresses’ fillings, a mixture of organic wool, cotton and flax that is grown without the use of harmful pesticides or chemicals for a healthier, naturally temperature regulated sleep.
Mixing eco friendly cork with recycled EVA plastics makes a uniquely blended material which Liga call Beach Clean. Once unused and part of a worldwide problem, these recycled plastics are now a solution to recreate from waste. The cork is harvested from trees in Portugal once every nine years using sustainable methods.
This piece is made from 70% industrial plastic waste from Grohe. Depending on the colourway, the waste used for the Matek blend combines post-consumer e-waste mixed with either 30% wood waste or 30% coffee bean waste obtained from the hospitality industry.
